Thin-film panel switch Plastic films come in a variety of types, such as PC films. Typically, conventional films are produced from granular materials using extrusion or calendering processes. Among these, PC films exhibit excellent impact resistance, making them suitable for applications like vests. They also possess good hardness but tend to have limited performance in terms of bending and processing. PC materials boast superior combined physical and chemical properties, allowing them to accommodate a wide range of inks. As a result, they have become the most widely used material for film switch panel layers.
PC materials are available in both matte and glossy finishes. The reason for choosing the matte finish is that membrane switches are typically used in electronic devices, where the control panels of these systems should avoid any interference from external light sources. Matte surfaces produce only diffuse reflection, preventing bright glare. Additionally, the irregular, sand-like texture of the matte finish helps conceal minor scratches, whereas glossy materials lack this feature entirely.

However, as a glossy material, once printed on the back side, the colors appear even more vibrant and eye-catching. In applications that place high demands on aesthetics but do not require frequent handling, glossy materials are often chosen for panel production. Alternatively, glossy materials may be preferred due to the specific requirements of certain display areas, such as LCD screens.
PET film is typically biaxially oriented, offering excellent flexibility and durability, making it ideal for use in membrane panel switches. The price of PET granules generally exceeds 20,000 RMB per ton. When PET is copolymerized with a diacid, the resulting material is known as APET; when combined with a diol, it becomes PETG. Both materials are widely used in plastic films, commonly employed for folding boxes and printing applications. Naturally, PET remains the more expensive option among these choices.
PVC film, currently used primarily in printing and box folding applications, is not environmentally friendly due to its halogen content. However, it boasts excellent flame-retardant properties. As global environmental standards become stricter, the use of this material is expected to gradually decline. Despite this, it remains relatively inexpensive, typically costing just a few yuan per kilogram.
