Thin-film switch Characteristics:
(1) Durability
The lifespan of a membrane switch can exceed one million cycles. This remarkable durability is attributed to the fact that the switch's actuation mechanism relies on the vertical deflection of an elastic membrane. The reason the elastic membrane can endure millions of flexing cycles lies in its minimal displacement—only 0.1 to 0.3 mm (corresponding to the switch travel)—combined with the rational selection of materials. As a result, the material remains well below its yield limit, enabling it to withstand over one million cycles without deformation.
On the other hand, the switch contacts are perpendicular in design, resulting in minimal wear. In contrast, the contacts produced by screen printing can achieve sufficient thickness, and an additional layer of conductive carbon is applied on top of the silver paste contacts to enhance wear resistance and provide self-lubrication. As a result, the service life of membrane switches is improved by more than tens of times compared to mechanical contact switches.
(2) Excellent sealing performance
Due to the film switch's integral sealing structure, its contact points are protected from corrosive harmful gases and are resistant to oxidation. Additionally, the switch features waterproof and dustproof capabilities, making it particularly suitable for use in a variety of harsh environments.

(3) Small in size, lightweight, and structurally reliable
Thin-film switches can be designed and arranged into thin-film keyboards with high configuration density. These switches feature a sealed, sandwich-like structure composed of multiple layers of film. The interconnecting wires and lead-out lines between all the switches are completed in a single step via screen printing. With a total thickness ranging from 1 to 3 mm, this design significantly reduces the overall size, lightens the weight, and enhances reliability.
(4) Rich in color and aesthetically pleasing in appearance
Thin-film switches can reflect personalization in color and pattern design, as well as showcase the combined aesthetic qualities of material beauty, decorative appeal, and craftsmanship, all tailored to the user's creative vision.
(5) Reduce the supporting costs of electromechanical products
Traditional mechanical switches require soldering during installation and often need to be paired with mounting brackets. In contrast, membrane switches are designed for adhesive mounting—simply peel off the backing paper and firmly attach them directly to the device's surface. Their lead wires then connect instantly to the sockets of the device's rear-mounted circuitry once inserted, enabling immediate circuit connectivity. This approach significantly reduces labor and material costs, ultimately lowering the overall assembly expenses of the device.
